Cycle to success with Couch to 50k
Budding cyclists will have the chance to pedal their way to success with Malvern Hills District Council’s popular ‘Couch to 50k’ programme.
Starting on Tuesday, June 5 at Victoria Park from 10am to 11.30am, the cycling course will offer complete beginners of all ages the chance to improve their health and well-being whilst building confidence on the roads.
The £35 programme, which has seen 16 people complete it so far, will run for 8 to 10 weeks with the final goal of finishing a 50 kilometre cycle ride through Worcestershire.
Participants will cycle together every week with the support of group leaders and will be asked to complete two homework cycles.
They will learn road awareness, cycling techniques, bicycle maintenance, safety checks and equipment requirements to make the most of their experience.
Rachel Vann, Physical Activity and Well-being Officer for Malvern Hills District Council, said: “The Couch to 50k will teach beginners cycling proficiency as well as the confidence to ride safely on the roads.
“This will be our third programme and as a group leader it has been amazing to see past participants improve in both skill and fitness to go on and successfully complete the 50 kilometre ride.”
