An afternoon concert celebrating Chipping Campden as the spiritual home of the Arts & Crafts movement performed by one of the foremost professional choirs in the UK with music by Elgar, Brahms, Josquin, Ligeti, Pärt, and more.

Chipping Campden is famous as the town chosen by the designer and Founder of the Guild of Handicraft Charles Robert Ashbee to set up his new workshop in 1902. Since then, Campden has attracted a long list of distinguished artists and craftsmen. 

The concert will honour this with a programme of choral music from across Europe, inspired by proportions, numerology, and mathematics, including one piece allegedly written to match the proportions of Florence Cathedral. The secret behind each piece will be explained by the group's conductor George Parris before being performance by some of the very best singers in the country.

George Parris and The Carice Singers have been praised for their "captivating interpretations" (Choir & Organ Magazine) and "beautifully blended tone" (The Guardian). The ensemble has recorded music for the Naxos label and most recently the BBC Music Magazine. Each year they return to perform at St James' Church, Chipping Campden which was the venue of their first ever performance in 2011.
