Tickets £22 (£20 concs, £15 under-16s)
Vienna Festival Ballet dance The Nutcracker, live on stage at Evesham Arts Centre on Saturday 7th December: The magic of ballet for Christmas. It's is a perfect introduction to ballet for those - young or old - who've never seen one and a memorable Christmas present - or a great-value indulgence - for those fascinated by classical dance.
The enchanting tale of The Nutcracker is one of the best-loved & most-performed ballets. It centres around Clara and her nutcracker doll that magically transforms into a princely soldier. Together Clara and the Nutcracker doll combat the evil Mouse King and join the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier on a wonderful journey through a shimmering winter land scene to a Kingdom made entirely of sweets.
"It's always a pleasure to host this hugely talented & hard-working company in Evesham" said arts centre volunteer Neal Cartwright. "Seeing live ballet in a theatre will always have a magic that watching a satellite screening cannot match. Being able to bring that experience within easy reach of local audiences is a rare privilege."
Vienna Festival Ballet was founded by celebrated Austrian dancer Peter Mallek in 1980. Now in their 39th year, the company continues to perform great classical ballets all over Britain & the world. Known for their beautiful and lavish hand-made costumes, VFB productions have all the elegance and extravagance associated with the best of ballet. Notable for the continued freshness and strength of their dancing casts, VFB's top-talented dancers include graduates from the Royal Ballet School, British, Australian and Italian soloists and guest stars from Vienna & South Africa.
