Celebrating the Queens 90th Birthday in Worcester

Her Majesty The Queen has already celebrated her actual 90th Birthday on April 11th, but her official birthday is yet to come. Her official birthday is when most celebrations will occur across the country. Worcestershire has a whole host of wonderful events and experiences for the whole family. Here are some of the highlights:

Spectacular Flotilla
A truly marvellous sight not to be missed. A flotilla of more than 100 boats will set off from South Quay at around 1pm on Saturday, June 11. The flotilla will be accompanied by musicians and bands dotted either side of the river to create a festive and celebratory atmosphere.

Tea for the Queen
The Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire, and the Mayor of Worcester are hosting Tea for The Queen, a party for county residents who will also be turning 90 this year.

A Right Royal Knees Up
Join The Hive for the lead up to the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations. This free event takes place on the 4th and 5th of June from 11am – 2pm at The Hive. You can learn how to make royal bunting, join them for a right royal storytime and even be Queen or King for the day.  There's also a chance to go down in history and record your 90 second film of what the queen means to you.

Civic Service at the Cathedral
A special service to commemorate the Queen’s 90th birthday will see 150 Worcestershire school children sing alongside the Cathedral choir, accompanied by Worcestershire Youth Music students and teachers. The event is free and starts at 4pm on Sunday the 12th of June.

Street Parties
A number of street parties will be occurring throughout the county. Just some include: Chubb Close, Yarrow Close, Meadow Road and Redfurn Avenue.
