Worcester car parks ready for pound coin changeover
Worcester City Council has been busy preparing for the introduction of the new 12-sided one pound coin on 28 March 2017.
Machines in all 14 of the City Council car parks in Worcester have been adapted, and will accept both the current and new one pound coin from 28 March 2017.
“Our officers have been preparing behind the scenes for several months, and everything is now in place for customers to use the new one pound coin right from the first day of introduction in our car parks,” says Cllr Geoff Williams, Cabinet Member for Economic Prosperity at Worcester City Council.
Making upgrades to all the machines has cost the City Council £14,500.
As well as paying for parking by cash, drivers also have the option to pay for their parking and extend their stay using their mobile phone and a credit or debit card.
Cashless parking service RingGo is offered as an alternative to coin payments in all of Worcester City Council's off street car parks.
