Local Schools to Appear in Exhibition

Primary school children from across Worcester have been sharing their memories and thoughts on The Hive as part of a huge exhibition, which opened this week.

Schools, including Northwick Manor Primary, Stanley Road Primary and Perry Wood Primary and Nursery School, have contributed poems, posters, pictures and models for The Hive at Five exhibition, celebrating five years of Europe’s first joint university and public library.

The main exhibition will be on display from Sunday, July 2nd to Sunday, July 9th. The work by schoolchildren will remain on display on level 2 in The Hive until Sunday 30th July.

Laura Worsfold, Business Development Manager at The Hive, said: “The pieces from the schools are wonderful. A lot of creative effort has gone into all of the artwork and literature. We have had some fantastic comments and ideas from the schools and pupils of what The Hive of the future will look like.”

On Saturday, July 8th, The Hive will be hosting a community day with live music, stalls and activities for all ages to celebrate its anniversary. The building was officially opened by Her Majesty The Queen five years ago, in 2012 and has since gone on to win 20 awards and has been shortlisted or highly commended for a further 23. 

The Hive at Five exhibition will display a timeline of all of The Hive’s successes, celebrations, achievements and visits and performances from famous authors and celebrities.

Future Hive at Five events taking place throughout the year, include author talks, further exhibitions, workshops for schools and a keynote speaker conference in March 2018.
