Money available to help local projects
Community groups, schools and charities looking for money to support their work are being urged to apply for funding from their district councillor.
Each of the 38 councillors on Malvern Hills District Council has £500 to spend on a project or projects they feel will benefit the residents they serve.
The money is part of the council’s Ward Budget Scheme which is designed to help councillors become more involved in their local communities and support local initiatives.
Last year councillors used the money to buy new books for school libraries, new play equipment, activities for young people, parenting courses, a breastfeeding support group and support for isolated and lonely older people amongst other things.
Cllr David Chambers, Leader of Malvern Hills District Council, said: “There are a lot of organisations doing some great work but they often struggle to attract funding. What we’ve found with our Ward Budget Scheme is a little can mean a great deal and this money is making a real difference to communities right across the district.”
The money needs to be applied for and awarded by 31 December 2018. For more information and to apply visit www.malvernhills.gov.uk/ward-budget-scheme.
