Protect your bike for free
Cyclists can get their bike protected for free thanks to Malvern Hills District Council.
A special bike marking event is taking place on Saturday 12 May from 11am to 2pm at the Council Chamber in Avenue Road, Malvern.
Each bike will be marked with a unique code which can then be registered on a national database. If the cycle is then lost or stolen it will be easier for police to trace and return it to the rightful owner.
More than 500,000 bikes are stolen in the UK each year because they are poorly stored or not secured at all.
Cyclists will also be able to take advantage of free Dr Bike safety checks.
Cllr Bronwen Behan, responsible for community safety on Malvern Hills District Council, said: “This event is a great opportunity for residents to protect their bike for free.
“Community and Environmental Protection Officers will also be on hand to give free advice on keeping your bike safe.”
There is no need to book just turn up on the day. Email streetscene@malvernhills.gov.uk for more information.
