Lido Park’s artwork refreshed

Droitwich Lido Park’s mural is set to see a summer makeover from a renowned artist this July thanks to Wychavon’s involvement.

Artist Rob Cowan has been chosen to create a new design for the, now nine-year-old, concrete wall in Droitwich’s Lido.

Formerly decorated with a four-seasoned theme, the mural’s new theme will focus on Droitwich and its history, depicting

local buildings and features from the area at different times, past and present.

Some ideas for the wall include St Andrew’s Brine Bath in the early 1900s and the Lido Park in the 1950s.

Rob will be working on the artwork with children from St Peters First School, who will help out with some of the initial stages during their art sessions.

The work, which is being funded by Wychavon through its park revenue budget, will cost £7,000 and will be carried out in intervals, starting in the middle of July and finishing early September.

 Lynn Stevens, Senior Parks and Greenspace Officer at Wychavon, said: “I would like to thank the owners of the wall for allowing the art to be created. Art and parks are proven to play an important part in boosting a person’s mental and physical well being.

“Combining the two like this can really raise one’s spirits, and it adds a creative feel to what would otherwise be a very plain concrete park boundary.”
