SELF EMPLOYMENT EVENT FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY
A trio of Worcester organisations are organising an event to offer help and advice for self- employed workers in the county.
Fortis Living – in partnership with Worcester City Council and Worcester Community Trust – is encouraging residents who are considering self-employment or who currently run their own small businesses, to come along to the free event next month.
The event will take place at Warndon Community Centre on Wednesday 24 October between 10.00am and 1.00pm and will provide information on starting up and running a business including available financial assistance. There will be a range of workshops on useful subjects including top tips on applying for grants. Fortis Living’s debt prevention team will also be on hand to provide advice on topics such as benefits and budgeting.
The event will be of particular interest to anyone who works in the construction industry or who would like to enter it. The event will include a visit to The Building Block, a Worcester Community Trust centre which provides free training and courses for the whole community in a wide range of skills including bricklaying, plumbing, plastering and electrical work.
The initiative will also provide networking opportunities with stands available for local businesses to promote their services to other businesses and residents.

Whether it’s about scoping out affordable work space, advice on managing accounts or who to go to for assistance when writing business plans, this event will be a one-stop-shop set in the heart of the Warndon community.”

It is an ideal opportunity to talk with industry professional, colleges, solicitors as well as attending free training workshops to get inspired and motivated.”

There is a lot of support available for anyone thinking about starting a business, or who currently runs a small business. The Warndon Self Employment event is an ideal opportunity to come along and find out about the wide range of support available.”
