County Council employees have taken on a 5-month fitness challenge to improve staff wellbeing while raising money for an initiative in honour of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this year.

The SJL Foundation raises thousands of pounds for Acorn’s children’s hospices in the Midlands and ethical start-up businesses
hursday 7 April 2022: The SJL Foundation, established in June 2019, raised £35,196.37 last Friday night on the 1st of April 2022 at its second black-tie Ball. 220 guests, some of whom drove hundreds of miles to the Bank House Hotel Spa and Golf Club resort, had a night of fizz, food and dancing. Five sponsorship deals for the Ball were signed with SJL Insurance Services, Skipton Building Society, Dolphin Tec, Lonmar Global Risks and Canopius Group. Prizes at the auction on the night included a gigantic chocolate Easter egg, Gary Lineker signed football shirt, two weeks in a villa in California, Tyson Fury Framed photo and a Banksy Life is Short print significantly increased the total raised on the night. Radio presenter, Richard ‘Hursty’ Hurst was compere and live music was by The Institutions and magic by Magician Patrick.

CHARITY PREVIEW SCREENINGS OF OLGA IN SUPPORT OF UKRAINE
UK cinemas including Malvern Cinema have united in support of Ukraine with a series of preview charity screenings of Olga, a new film about a young female Ukrainian gymnast forced to train in exile. From each ticket sold, a donation will be made to support Ukraine via the Disasters Emergency Committee.

A Worcestershire-based hospice is encouraging people to join their volunteer team this year in the charity’s 18 shops around the county.
St Richard’s Hospice is hoping that at least 150 new volunteers will swell their ranks to help run the stores, which raise vital income towards the hospice’s care of patients and families living with a serious progressive illness.

The St Richard’s Hospice Snowdrop Ball
Guests are invited to put on their glad rags and support a Worcestershire Hospice for its glitzy, annual fundraising ball.
The St Richard’s Hospice Snowdrop Ball will be held at West Midland Safari Park, on Saturday, 27th November.
On the night, guests will be treated to a sparkling reception, three course meal, auction and raffle. The evening will feature wild winter-themed entertainment.

Nominate your boss, teacher or coach for a lock-up challenge
Employees, pupils and budding sports stars are being invited to ‘lock up their boss, teacher or coach’ for a light-hearted fundraising challenge in support of St Richard’s Hospice.
Detainees from across the county will be ‘taken into custody’, ‘stand trial’ for their fictitious crime before being handcuffed in a cell outside The Guildhall, Worcester on Friday, 24th September. They will be challenged with raising £500 or more in bail money for their freedom by 3pm.
