Have your say on Worcester’s tourism offer

Worcester City Council is ramping up its efforts to entice more visitors to the city, and is looking for your views on how it can improve its current offer to tourists.

A quick, easy-to-complete online survey seeks views from members of the public on the quality and quantity of Worcester’s cultural, heritage and sporting attractions and events – and whether more could be done to improve or create greater awareness of them.

Nearly 3.5 million people are estimated to have visited Worcester in 2015, and over 3,000 people are currently employed either directly or indirectly in the city’s tourism sector.

The results of this consultation will help to inform Worcester’s new five-year tourism strategy, which is due to launch in the early New Year.  This will set out a vision up to 2021 to address the needs of the visitor, the tourism industry, the community and the environment.

The City Council has already consulted extensively with Worcester’s business and tourism professionals with regard to the new strategy.

“Listening to customers who have first-hand experience of visiting Worcester’s attractions or attending city events is absolutely essential to the future success of our tourism industry,” says Cllr Geoff Williams, Cabinet Member for Economic Prosperity and Growth.

“I would urge local residents to take a few minutes to complete the survey and give us your views.”

Go to www.worcester.gov.uk/voiceit to respond to the survey, which will close on Sunday 23 October 2016.  All responses are anonymous and confidential.
