Worcester Buoys Row 3,000 Miles Across Atlantic For Acorns This Christmas
Worcester Buoys Row 3,000 Miles Across Atlantic For Acorns This Christmas
Slightly off the wall, maybe! However, in the spirit of seasonal goodwill I want to let you know of a local good news story this Christmas.
George and Matt, two local “Worcester Buoys”, are leaving their families this season and rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic to raise funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Acorns provide specialist care for children across the West Midlands who have life limiting and life threatening conditions. Care is offered from their three hospices in Worcester, Birmingham and Walsall, and in the community. The care they provide is hugely rewarding, valuable and expensive! Worcester Buoys aim to raise £100,000 for Acorns.
Their race started at 0853 this morning. For the next month and a half, or more(!), George and Matt will row for 2 hours, have 2 hours off, then row for two hours…..you get the picture!. Quite a challenge!
GreenThumb Worcester is proud to be supporting Acorns and the Buoys.
