Dunstall Tower rewards visitors with eye-catching views

Visitors will have an opportunity to explore an unusual eye-catcher this year at a National Trust property, near Pershore, on a special open day.

Croome will be opening the doors of Dunstall Castle where visitors can chat to staff and take in the Croome landscape from another perspective.

“It’s an experience climbing the tower inside Dunstall Castle,” said Katherine Alker, Croome’s Garden and Parks Manager. “and we hope that people will take the chance to come and see the views from the top on our next open day.”

Dunstall Castle was designed by Robert Adam in the 1760s for 6th Earl of Coventry as a whimsical folly with elements of both a castle and a church.  After being acquired in 2009 by the National Trust, the central tower and staircase were restored and visitors can now climb the steep spiral staircase to the top of the tower which sits on the edge of the historic estate that stretched over 14,000 acres in the 18th century.

This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to have the chance to go inside to explore this building.  After climbing a ladder and the narrow spiral staircase they are treated at the top to far reaching views of the Worcestershire countryside from the viewing platform.

Dunstall Tower is open between 11am-3pm, on Sunday 9 September 2018 with limited parking nearby.  Free entry but donations welcomed.

Croome is open throughout the year. The park and lakeside are open from 9am until 5.30pm and Croome Court is open from 11am to 4.30pm every day. Normal admission applies.
